Position Description

Melese Duressa Institute (MDI) is looking for a small business and startup champion to lead our entrepreneurship program. MDI is focused on community empowerment and building the infrastructure necessary to support improved economic opportunities. We are looking for a team member that believes in making an impact, is willing to test ideas, has a skill for creating programs, strong desires to connect with the community, and is excited about collaborating with entrepreneurs during the entire journey from ideation to execution. The ideal fit for this position is someone eager to design, craft, and launch new programs focused on building more community businesses.

Responsibilities

  • Lead our entrepreneurship programs by working directly with entrepreneurs in existing programs and developing frameworks for support in new programs.
  • Recruit founders, mentors, and speakers for accelerator program and business resource
  • Conduct research and provide recommendations for continuous
  • Create and launch new programming in a fast paced and complex non-profit
  • Collect data to report to funders on community impact resulting from our
  • Deliver presentations on current programs and vision for new programs to key stakeholders, funders, and board members.
  • Organize forums, events, and other similar activities.
  • Engage communities, supporters, partners, business leaders, civic and government organizations.
  • Conduct Fundraise programs or generate revenue for running the programs.
  • Build and maintain trusting relationships with communities, key customers, clients, partners, and stakeholders.
  • Ensure that all programmatic partners renew their contracts or partnerships.
  • Develop curriculum, tools, and entrepreneurship training that meet cost guidelines.
  • Develop and implement projects effectively and efficiently.
  • Perform other assigned duties.

Qualifications

  • Able to travel where needed.
  • A minimum of Bachelor’s Degree in Entrepreneurship, Business, economics, agribusiness, agrieconomics, Financial Management or any related discipline
  • Ability to self-direct, analyze, evaluate, and form independent
  • Detail oriented with the ability to organize, prioritize, and meet d
  • A minimum of 3 years of relevant experience in entrepreneurship (startups or small business) preferred, but not required.
  • Passion for teaching and empowering young people as future business leaders
  • Fluent in writing, reading, and speaking Afaan Oromo and English.
  • Demonstrated experience in running a business venture.
